About the KCM6XRUL3T84

KCM6XRUL3T84 is Kioxia's widely deployed 3.84TB enterprise PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe solid state drive from the CM6-R product family. Built on 96-layer BiCS FLASH 3D TLC NAND, it delivers up to 6,900 MB/s sequential read speed and 1,400,000 random read IOPS with dual-port failover support and 1 DWPD endurance. It served as the primary enterprise Gen4 workhorse across major OEM server lines, replacing the PCIe Gen3 CM5 series.

Compatibility

Fits small-form-factor 2.5-inch 15mm server bays equipped with U.3 or U.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe connections. Supported in Dell PowerEdge 15G (R750, R650), HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus, and Lenovo ThinkSystem V2 servers. It will not work in SATA-only or SAS-only bays. It requires a 15mm-capable drive sled.

How to identify a genuine unit

A genuine Kioxia retail drive carries a label reading KCM6XRUL3T84, CM6-R 3840GB, with dual-port NVMe PCIe 4.0 branding. In Linux, nvme id-ctrl displays model KCM6XRUL3T84. In Dell servers, it is sold under OEM part numbers such as 400-BJHZ with Dell-customized firmware.

Buying used

Check the drive's health status via nvme smart-log, verifying that spare blocks are at 100 percent and write endurance used is low. Ensure the dual-port mode jumper settings or firmware parameters match your server's single-port or dual-port backplane architecture.
